Peter Sefton, director, has more than forty years experience in the law, in the UK and abroad. He was one of Northern Ireland’s high profile barristers, involved in many landmark cases, including the trials of Hazel Stewart, Mark Haddock and Jacqueline Crymble. He appeared for the Public Prosecution service, the Serious Fraud Office, HM Customs and Revenue and the Health and Safety Executive, among others.
Peter suffered the murder of his parents in 1990 and , since 2002 he has been pursuing justice for them.
Since retirement from the Bar , in 2015 he has been involved in detailed research into “Troubles” killings, the supply of Semtex by Libya to PIRA and into the use of informers by the State.
He has experience of dealing with all of Northern Ireland’s agencies which touch on the Troubles and he has submitted evidence to the House of Commons NI Select Committee.
This activity, combined with his experience as a barrister, makes him uniquely placed to offer the company’s services to a wide range of people , in Northern Ireland and further afield.
V&A will give impartial and independent advice and assistance to victims and survivors who want to progress their own case independently of any State assisted body.
V&A also offers advice and assistance to individuals and bodies who want to understand how the judicial system works and how they might represent themselves or give better evidence in their case.
Peter was a grammar school governor for twenty six years and V&A offers advice on educational issues , including transfer tests and special educational needs.
